Mission Statement:

Student Accessibility & Support Services (SASS) is dedicated to the ideals of full access to campus programs and services by providing learning support for all students as well as accommodations for students with disabilities. We encourage independence, responsibility, and self-advocacy by collaborating with students, instructors, staff, and community members to foster a universal-design approach to learning.

Learning Supports

Student Accessibility and Support Services (SASS) offers learning supports to any student enrolled at KCKCC. These services are provided at no charge. Services include:

  • Learning styles/preference inventory
  • Study Skills
  • Test taking techniques
  • Note taking tips
  • Time management practices

Disability Services

SASS coordinates services for KCKCC students who have a documented disability in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation ACT and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Services are provided at no cost to enrolled students on an individual basis and with respect to confidentiality.

Qualifying Disabilities

Types of disabilities that may qualify for services include, but are not limited to:

  • Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Blindness/vision loss
  • Brain injury
  • Chronic health impairments
  • Deafness/hard of hearing
  • Learning disabilities
  • Physical disabilities
  • Psychological disabilities
  • Seizure disorder
  • Communication disorders

Guidelines for Disability Documentation

Students requesting academic accommodations must provide appropriate documentation of their disability in accordance with the KCKCC’s Documentation Guidelines. Accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act.

Disability documentation provided to SASS becomes an educational record protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. KCKCC does not pay providers for documentation/records. Any payment is the sole responsibility of the student.
